i'd never seen a girl handle a sheep the way she did.
she was sitting on the fence, rolling a grass stalk between her teeth, looking like a goddamn vision of every fantasy i d ever had, wearing those cowboy boots those rolled up denim shorts, a sweaty dirty t shirt.
i grabbed her elbows and pulled her to me and kissed her and kissed her hard, giving everything to those terrible lips,
but her mouth didn't move, and her elbows stayed limp; i nibbeled at her cheek but it was useless now. i laughed and shook my head, pulling away. |

frankie would spend the summer days riding the shitty three speed twenty year old schwinn that she inherited from her brother around the city looking for people to race not that they knew it was a race but there was nothing frankie loved so much as a worthy oponent, one with firm ankles and a quick grasp and when she found one, and sometimes she did, she would lean down fingers tight around the handles feet firm in the pedals legs taught and ready, wind wipping her curls around her face as she pressed down and sped up past the cars past the trees past the highrises the lamposts the skyscarpers past the people on the sidewalk past block after block of parked cars and meters waiting to be fed but her eyes was only on one thing, the back of the rider, baby blues locked on them, just waitng for the moment she would catch up and keep up, speed up and pass by fly by victorious and then she would peddle harder, going up, up up and away lifting through a yellow light knowing they would catch it red. |
